Youth Hostel Ars Viva is an excellent starting point for all travelers who want to explore the surrounding mountains and hiking trails.

Loška dolina
Loška Dolina did not exist in the beginning; there were only rocky hills and mountains, just like those on its outskirts today. There were no people around, except for the fearsome seven-headed dragon living in Mrzla Jama.
Then, brave people arrived in these lands, who cut off six heads from the dragon, leaving only the middle one. Just as the leader was about to swing his sword to cut off the last head, the dragon pleaded: “Do not kill me! I will do anything you want, just spare my life!” “Alright,” said the leader. “I will spare you if you carry these hills far away and prepare a fertile valley for us!” Immediately, the dragon began the hard work. He piled up the hills into a high stack – Snežnik. And when he had carried many hills and a wide valley had already spread, he perished from exhaustion and pain in the midst of the dark forest. The settlers began diligently cultivating the land of their new homeland. A fairy tale about the origin of Loška Dolina, written in 1911.

Bloke
Bloke skier and consequently cross-country skiing are what make Bloke worth a visit.
We also recommend to our guests to visit outside the cold months, as cooling off in the pleasant Bloke Lake in the summer is more than welcome.
Bloke is only a 10-minute drive from Youth Hostel Ars Viva.
